- Comments
- In the Watershed, pale smartweed has been found in a range of habitats, although usually drier and more alkaline than that of other species of Persicaria: pond edges, creek drainages, moist meadows, etc. For instance, it has been collected from San Luis Lake N of Alamosa, the Baca NWR, Russell Lakes SWA, Alamosa River canyon, Wagon Wheel Gap, near Center, etc. Persicaria lapathifolia is a native smartweed, present in every state of the USA. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico and, intermittently, through Texas to the Gulf of Mexico.
