- Alpine sorrel has been recorded equally from both sides of the Valley, most often from the tundra in rock crevices, but also along stream banks. This monospecific plant is found throughout the western USA, and the Watershed stands roughly at its eastern border. In New Mexico it follows the Rio Grande drainage down to the Mexican border and to the very tip of western Texas but no farther down stream.
