- In the Watershed alpine phlox has been found often in rocky or meadowy habitat of the subalpine and alpine, on both sides of the Valley. Phlox condensata has not been vouchered from the Culebras (nor from the Cristos of New Mexico except at the southern tail-end of the range, NE of Santa Fe). However, Ackerfield (2022) shows distribution points in the Cristos of Costilla Co, with no vouchers in SEINet. In the USA, the flower has a disjunct distribution, with one range in eastern California and Nevada, the other range in central Colorado and New Mexico, with no records from Utah or Arizona. The Santa Fe Co locations in New Mexico mark the farthest south in the Rio Grande drainage.
