- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. There is only one record of Ipomopsis spicata in the Watershed, from San Juan Co, Stony (“Hamilton”) Pass, “above timber line” (1875)—a highly unlikely location for this Front Range piedmont plant. It is, however, a plant easily identified, and there are other isolated locations, in southwest Utah and northern Arizona. Still the determination is very suspect, since the Stony Pass location would be some 2,500' higher in elevation than the range given by Ackerfield, who doesn't accept this record. A possible corrected determination for this old specimen is Ipomopsis congesta.
