- In the Wastershed thymeleaf speedwell occupies mesic habitats from montane into tundra: wet meadows, stream sides, springs, etc. Strangely, there is only one record of Veronica serpyllifolia from the Cristos of the Watershed (near Veta Pass, 1900, Rydberg), although there are many observation from that range in New Mexico. The USA distribution shows a broad population in the Western states and another in the Great Lakes and New England states. It follows the Rio Grande drainage only into Bernalillo Co, New Mexico, no farther down river. Note that the Watershed plant belongs to the variety or subspecies humifusa, presumed to be the V. serpyllifolium native to the USA.
