- In the Watershed purslane speedwell is common, found by all kinds of water: creeks, streams, lakes, wet ditches, and drying reservoirs and ponds. It is not yet recorded from the Culebras but certainly present there, judging from the distribution in New Mexico. It ranges in size from less than half an inch to over four inches. It is also highly adaptable, found in every state of the Union. It is present through the entire Rio Grande drainage, down to the Gulf of Mexico. Note that the Watershed plant is var. xalapensis, native to the USA, with glandular hairs as distinguished from the European plant, which is hairless.
