- Comments
- Rocky Mountain beardstongue has been the most commonly collected Penstemon of the Watershed, found in a variety of habitats, from mesic to xeric, from foothill to subalpine, occasionally by roads. The one Lower Basin record is from the Pinyon Hills, in volcanic soil. There are no records from the Culebras but many from their continuation into New Mexico. In the USA, P. strictus is more wide spread than P. strictiformis, adding southeast Nevada and south Wyoming to Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. It follows the Rio Grande drainage into Socorro Co, New Mexico (but no farther down stream).
