- For Penstemon glaber var. alpinus, SEINet shows only two collections from the Watershed: on a hillside E of Pinos Creek, 7.8 miles SW of Del Norte (1984, Rio Grande Co); and on Lime Creek near Spar City, at about 10,000' elevation (1994, Mineral Co). The observations by Mary McDonald in 2022 and 2024 from Trujillo Meadows Reservoir (Conejos Co) are unique so far. In support of further occurrences in the Watershed, the taxon has been collected at higher elevations from Rio Arriba and Taos couonties of New Mexico. Note that the distributions of the two varieties of P. glaber recognized by FNA may overlap in the Watershed.
