- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. For Penstemon glaber var. alpinus, SEINet shows only two collections from the Watershed: on a hillside E of Pinos Creek, 7.8 miles SW of Del Norte (1984, Rio Grande Co); and on Lime Creek near Spar City, at about 10,000' elevation (1994, Mineral Co). According to personal information from BONAP (via Al Schneider), this variety is found only in Saguache Co, perhaps west of the Continental Divide. In support of the Watershed collections, it has been collected at higher elevations from Rio Arriba and Taos couonties of New Mexico. Note that the distributions of the two varieties of P. glaber recognized by FNA may overlap in the Watershed.
