- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Of Penstemon glaber in the inclusive sense, there are only three specimens in herbaria: 10 miles S of Creede (Mineral Co, 1994); 6 miles SW of Capulin (Conejos Co, 2004); and 7.8 miles SW of Del Norte (Rio Grande Co, 1984). Allred et al. (2020) report P. glaber from the northernmost counties of New Mexico. The USA distribution is centered in Wyoming, with an extension running down the Front Range of Colorado and spreading into the West Slope of Colorado and New Mexico. Note that the distributions of the two varieties of P. glaber recognized by FNA (var. alpinus and var. brandegeei) may overlap in the Watershed.
