- In the Watershed, the distinctive orchid Spiranthes romanzoffiana is rather infrequently collected, mostly from meadows close to streams or ponds. Around 15 observations are from the San Juans from the Rio Grande south. The two east-side records are from Forbes Park, west of La Veta Pass (Costilla Co, 1998) and Sand Creek Lakes in the North Cristos (Saguache Co, 1992). It has been collected, however, from the Rio Grande Cristos of New Mexico, both at the north and south end of the range in that state. It follows the Rio Grande drainage only to Santa Fe Co, New Mexico. In the USA it has a broad distribution, found in all Western states and across the Great Lakes and New England regions.
