- In Colorado, voucher records for Platanthera tescamnis are protected, so one is unable to tell if the species has been found within the Watershed. SEINET shows just four vouchers that might fit (the species was so named by Sloviak and Jennings in 2006). BONAP shows San Juan, Hinsdale, Mineral, Rio Grande, Saguache, Conejos, and Archuleta). Scott F. Smith (2007) says the species can be found in "the foothills of the San Louis valley" and gives an elevation range of 7,000' to 10,000'. Hogan and Elliot record one specimen from the vicinity of Valley View Hot Springs (Saguache Co). For the USA distribution, BONAP shows the center in Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico, with neighboring areas of Nevada and southern California. BONAP shows the species following the Rio Grande drainage to Socorro Co, New Mexico, but no farther down stream. All these distributions are not definitive because the name "Platanthera tescamnis" has been given to plants otherwise treated as "Platanthera sparsiflora" or "Platanthera purpurascens."
