NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Of Platanthera sparsiflora there are only two Watershed vouchers, both from Valley View Hot Springs in Saguache Co (1979, 1981). This species has given taxonomists much trouble, and its distribution in the Watershed is tentative at best. In New Mexico it follows the Rio Grande drainage from counties adjacent to Colorado (Rio Arriba and Taos) down to the border with Mexico. It is distributed through New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California, and Oregon. Note that Ackerfield 2022 treats this taxon as Platanthera tescamnis.
