- Comments
- On both sides of the Watershed, the natural habitat of Hooker's evening-primrose seems to be moist montane meadows, but the flower is also a common sight along roads, irrigation ditches, ponds, and barrow pits if the conditions are mesic. This is a California and Southwest plant and the Watershed lies along the northeast edge of its range. Note that in the Watershed, two subspecies of Oenothera elata have been recorded: most often subsp. hirsutissima; twice subsp. hookeri (Monte Vista, 1939, and La Manga pass, 1974).
