- Fringed willowherb is the Watershed’s most common Epilobium, usually found near water—streams, rock seeps, beaver ponds, lakes, sometimes human-made ponds. It is present in nearly every county west of the Great Plains (and across the northern USA), and continues down the Rio Grande drainage into the Big Bend country of Texas. The Watershed's species includes two weakly distinguished varieties—var. glandulosum and var. ciliatum—which seem to sympatric.
