- In the Watershed pimpernel willowherb has been recorded from the subalpine and tundra, in mesic conditions such as snow melt, rock seeps, wet meadows, etc. Epilobium anagallidifolium is found in all mountain regions of the Watershed, but the concentration is in the south San Juans. Its USA range is higher mountains in all the states west of the Great Plains except for Arizona. The species follows the Rio Grande drainage about to Santa Fe, NM. Its common name reflects the specific epithet, anagallifolium, "with leaves like those of Anagallis" (pimpernel).
