- In the Watershed this species of four-o'clock has been rather infrequently collected. Mirabilis oxybaphoides is found on dry slopes, sometimes volcanic; e.g., 5 miles S of the Great Sand Dunes NP (Alamosa Co, 1986), near Los Mogotes peak (Conejos Co, 1987), Rock Creek W of Monte Vista (Rio Grande Co, 1981). Mirabilis oxybaphoides has not been recorded from the Culebras of the Watershed, but has been in the Cristos of New Mexico. The USA distribution shows a Four Corners species largely of Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico, where it follows the Rio Grande drainage to the border with Mexico and farther down stream, at least down to Big Bend, Texas.
