- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. The Watershed has only one location for Mirabilis nyctaginea: Baca National Wildlife Refuge (2006). It has been found just west of the Watershed, at the overlook on Hwy 160 west of Wolf Creek pass (1984). In the USA, the plant is native to the Great Plains and Rockies and adventive elsewhere. There are a few scattered occurrences on down the Rio Grande drainage, in Taos, Torrance, Doña Ana, and Otero counties of New Mexico, and Jeff Davis Co of west Texas.
