- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. There is only one record of sweet sand-verbena from the Watershed, collected in 1925 and labeled only “Alamosa, Alamosa valley,” found on a “sandy railroad grade.” The specimen was perhaps adventitious and did not persist. Yet the species ranges in the Rockies from the Canadian border down through nearly every county of New Mexico, including the Rio Grande drainage to the Mexican border.
