- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Of western springbeauty there are only five Watershed records: Park Creek (Mineral Co, 1984); end of FR 430 (Mineral Co, 1993); near Osier Park (Conejos Co, 1988); Alamosa Canyon, Horsethief Park (Costilla Co, 1984); and Mosca Pass summit (Alamosa Co, cited in Hogan and Elliot, 2022). Allred et al. (2020) show Claytonia lanceolata from Rio Arriba Co in New Mexico, but say it is "seldom collected." The Watershed occurrences lie close to the east end of the USA range, which is all states west of the Great Plains. In Colorado the species is largely found on the western slope and in the north Central Rockies. Note the difficulties in separating C. lanceolata and C. rosea, both Watershed species. For instance, both species have been reported from Mosca Pass.
