- So far for buckbean there is only one Watershed location, a summit pond at Cumbres Pass, observed there in 1949, 1965, and 2022. BONAP also shows Hinsdale Co, with no SEINet voucher. Menyanthes trifolia roots in ponds, bogs, and fens. The Conejos Co location and a location in Rio Arriba Co of New Mexico (Brozas Ridge in the Carson National Forest) lie at the south edge of the USA distribution of M. trifoliata, which is present in all states west of the Great Plains and the northern third of the country from Washington State to Maine (it also is found in Europe and Asia). The two locations, in Conejos Co and Rio Arriba Co, are the only ones recorded for the Rio Grande drainage.
