- White checkermallow is common on both sides of the Watershed, in wet habitats such as mesic meadows, seeps, streamsides, run-offs, ditches, etc. Sidalcea candida has not yet been collected from the Culebras but surely is present there (see the many collections from the Cristos of New Mexico). The USA distribution is restricted to west Nevada, Utah, southeast Wyoming, central and west Colorado, and central New Mexico. In New Mexico it has been recorded as far south as Otero Co but no farther down the Rio Grande drainage.
