Comments
For Monarda fistulosa there are two old vouchers, 1934 and 1936, from Ute Creek near Ft. Garland (Costilla Co), in dry meadow. One recent iNaturalist observation indicates that the species has persisted elsewhere in the Watershed: La Jara Canyon about four air miles south of La jara Reservoir (Conejos Co, Sept 2021, iNaturalist observation 93903184) In Colorado it is present in all counties surrounding the Watershed, and in New Mexico present in all the Rio Grande drainage counties, including Rio Arriba and Taos. Wild bergamot follows the drainage down to the Big Bend country of Texas. It has been recorded from all USA states except Florida and California, least so in the Pacific coast states. Note that the Watershed species is M. fistulosa var. menthifolia.
