- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. In the Watershed Phacelia glandulosa grows on dry rocky slopes and scree from montane to tundra, sometimes occupying steep road embankments. There are only 9 records from the Watershed, none from the east side of the Valley. This is a Central Rockies phacelia and the San Juans of the Watershed mark the southern edge of its distribution. So the Watershed records are the only ones from the Rio Grande drainage. Note that to distinguish Phacelia glandulosa safely from P. bakeri, the seed has to be examined. Acccording to Ackerfield (2022), compared to P. bakeri, P. glandulosa grows at a much narrower range of elevation: P. glandulosa 8,500'-9,500'; P. bakeri 6,500'-12,600'.
