- For Nama dichotoma there are nine Watershed observations but basically only two definitive locations: hills E of Saguache and north of Hwy 114 (1999); sandy or gravelly substrate in or near the Baca National Wildlife Refuge (2006, 2012, 2021). There is also a 1896 voucher labeled only "Alamosa." These locations, and a few others in Colorado, lie at the northeast corner of the USA distribution, which is mainly Arizona and New Mexico. The species has been found through the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico and on down to the Big Bend country of Texas. Note that the genus epithet is sometimes taken as masculine, hence "dichotomum." The argument for treating Nama as feminine is presented in Nicolson (1994).
