- Comments
- Waxflower is common locally, on both sides of the Valley, usually found in rock crevices of foothill canyons, but sometimes on rocky slopes in open forests. There are no collections from the Culebras, but the plant is probably present there, as it is quite commonly recorded from New Mexico Cristos. Jamesia americana follows the Rio Grande drainage down to the Mexican border. Its USA distribution is spotty, consisting of isolated locations in California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and the Central and Southern Rockies, perhaps because it is a relict from the Tertiary Period.
