NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Of the exotic Myriophyllum spicatum, the Watershed has only one record: “Rio Grande and portions of its floodplain near the Alamosa National Wildlife Refuge—on the Refuge at the terminal end of the Closed Basin Canal” (USFWS 2002). Ackerfield (2012) says of M. spicatum that it has been reported from Colorado "but no specimens have been seen." And there are no records of the species in SEINet. Yet it is on Colorado's B list of "noxious weeds." It has been recorded down the Rio Grande drainage as far as Sierra Co, New Mexico, but no farther. Note that absence of turions has to be noted to distinguish this water-milfoil from M. sibiricum.
