- Throughout the Watershed, Corydalis aurea is found in a range of habitats, including both disturbed and natural ones: alleys, riparian slopes, washes, rocky foothill slopes, etc. It is recorded from all counties of New Mexico. The subspecies occidentalis extends into Texas, but the subspecies aurea does not. Most authorities agree that the features that supposedly separate these two subspecies integrade.
