- Pneumonanthe parryi, or bottle gentian, is the most often collected gentian from the Watershed, found in all mountain regions, usually under the name "Gentiana parryi." Pneumonanthe parryi prefers wet meadows but also grows on drier, more rocky slopes and occasionally as part of the understory of subalpine willows and pines. Its USA range is restricted to the mountains of Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico (where it follows the Rio Grande drainage to north of Santa Fe). Note that the new genus name, Pneumonanthe, is supported by DNA analysis reported in Yong-Ming Yuan et al. (2019)—but many authorities, including SEINet and BONAP still treat the taxon as Gentiana.
