- Monument plant is locally common in the southern San Juans. There is only one collection from the east of the Watershed (1900), in the north Cristos near Peanut Lake, growing in tundra boulders. This is the only alpine location for the plant in the Watershed. It is found in all USA states west of the Great Plains. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico and to the far western tip of Texas, but no farther down stream.
