- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. The exotic garden vetch has been recorded six times in the Watershed over the stretch of eight decades, in ruderal spaces such as irrigation ditches and pond sides. The latest date is 2006, from the Baca NWR. All must have originated as garden plants, but the the Conejos Co record from Romeo (1930) was streamside, so there is some evidence of naturalization. Vicia sativa is recorded from all USA states, with concentrations in more temperate regions such as the Pacific coast and South. It is recorded from the Rio Grande drainage only as far south as Rio Arriba Co, New Mexico.
