- Potamogeton crispus is primarily a low-land plant and has been recorded from the Watershed only recently. It is native to Eurasia and now recorded from every state of the USA except for North Carolina. It is considered a noxious weed in some states, and can clog up waterways, being a nuisance especially around the Great Lakes. The Rio Grande Co occurrences (Million Reservoir, 2018, 2020) are the only ones for the Watershed. These observations would add Rio Grande to counties indicated in Ackerfield (2022) and BONAP (2022). The southernmost presence of P. crispus in the Rio Grande drainage is Socorro Co, New Mexico. Note that Its serrated leaves make it an easy Potamogeton to identify.
