- Delphinium ramosum is a tall plant of open meadows, less commonly observed in the Watershed than its forested cousin, D. barbeyi. D. ramosum occurs in the Watershed mountains to the east and west, from the foothills on up into the subalpine, in meadows and forest openings and along creeks and rivers. The plants, however, are scattered and not very common. Note the early record, 1896, from Villa Grove. Also note that a voucher may be identified as D. ramosum, D. robustum, or even D. alpestre, depending upon identifier, problematizing any effort at mapping of distribution. Its USA range is confined to Colorado, one county in southeast Wyoming, and the northern tier of counties in New Mexico. For more photographs and comment, click "yes" in the Annotation field below.
