- Comments
- Subalpine larkspur grows in higher-elevation mesic habitats such as moist meadows and conifer openings, sometimes in sizeable patches. It is found in all mountain area of the Watershed, although much more common in the north Cristos and south San Juans. In the USA its range is confined to Utah, northeast Arizona, southern Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico, where it is present in the Rio Grande drainage down to Torrance Co. In lands used for summer pasturage, the population of Delphinium barbeyi may have been reduced by sheep and cattle herders, since it is toxic to livestock.
