- YES Rich Haswell: Mineral Co, in Watershed, elev. 9,000-10,000’, 26 June 2013 to 13 Aug 2018
- Comments
- Dactylorhiza viride was previously known as Coeloglossum viride or Habenaria viridis. Three vouchers from San Juan Co have dates and locations protected, so they may or may not be in the Watershed. The only sure Watershed location remains Shaw Lake (Mineral Co, 11 miles SW of South Fork). where M. R. Martin vouchered the species from there in 1976. Long-bracted frog orchid grows in forest openings among taller vegetation and can be difficult to notice. A variable species present world wide around the northern hemisphere, it has scattered locations throughout the Rocky Mountains and across the northern USA to Maine. It is present in the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico down to Sierra Co. Note that the genus name change from Coeloglossum to Dactylorhiza is based on genetic analysis (Bateman, et al., 1997).
