- Circaea alpina var. alpina was found in 2018 by a forested seep in Rio Grande Co. The photorecord would add the species to the Watershed. It has been collected in similar habitat just over the Continental Divide west of Wolf Creek Pass, and just east of the Watershed near Commanche Lake in Custer Co. It is present in the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico (Sandoval, Socorro, and Sierra counties). In Colorado it is typically a Front Range plant. The USA distribution is disjunct, with one distribution present in all states west of the Great Plains, and a second distribution centered around the Great Lakes and New England. At least in Colorado and New Mexico, there are two varieties or subspecies (alpina and pacifica), which are sometimes treated as separate species.
