- In the Watershed, cow clover is confined to very mesic habitats—wet meadows, stream sides, mud banks—barely reaching into the montane. It is represented in the Upper and Lower Basins from wet habitats such as meadows, stream sides, and lake sides. The USA distribution of Trifolium wormskioldii covers mainly the Pacific Coast states, the intermountain region, and the Southern Rockies. Records from the Rio Grande drainage continue down through New Mexico to the Big Bend country of Texas.
