- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Ranging from foothills up to the subalpine and often growing in forest openings, Thermopsis divaricarpa is scattered around the Valley, with a concentration in the Sawatch Range around Poncha Pass. It follows the Rio Grande watershed south only into Santa Fe Co, New Mexico. The USA distribution is restricted to the Rockies, up to the Canadian border. Note that mature pods are required to accurately determine this species (true of all golden banners in the Watershed). Also note that the taxon is sometimes treated as a variety of T. rhombifolia (e.g., Ackerfield 2022).
