- There are three Watershed records for black locust: Moffat (Saguache Co, iNaturalist observation, 2021); a county road near Valley View Hot Springs (Saguache Co, iNaturalist observation, 2022); and Del Norte between a dirt street and and a house property (Rio Grand Co, photorecords, 2015-2020). This last is an adult tree with saplings spreading from it, probably planted rather than adventitious. The locust is native to the eastern USA and spread by cultivation through the rest of the nation. Escapes of Robinia pseudoacacia have been recorded from scattered locations down the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico to the Big Bend country of Texas.
