- Lemon scurfpea is a sand-loving species confined in the Watershed to the Great Sand Dunes and in vegetated sand on farther west and north to Crestone. The one exception was found in Costilla Co (Mountain Home Reservoir, ca 3 mi SE of Ft. Garland, 1999). In the USA the species is found from the central Great Plains on west to the eastern slopes of the Cascades. It follows the Rio Grande drainage down through New Mexico to Doña Ana Co but no farther.
