- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Of sand lupine there are very few Watershed records: Saguache Co, 1 location NW of Bonanza; Conejos Co, 6 locations W of Antonito and La Jara. The habitat is sandy loam among aspen, mixed conifer, or juniper and sagebrush. Lupinus amnophilus is mainly a west-slope species in Colorado, extreme northern counties in New Mexico, extreme eastern counties in Arizona and Utah—a fairly restricted USA range.
