- Rydberg collected a specimen of Parry's milkvetch west of La Veta Pass in 1900, and then a century or so passed before it was collected 9 more times: Zapata Falls, Mosca Creek trail, upper Dorsey Creek, Great Sand Dunes Pinyon Flats cpgd, and near the Orient Mine, Poncha Pass, Kelly Creek (1998-2023). These collections come from both the west and east sides of the upper Valley, on lightly forested slopes. Astragalus parryi would be endemic to Colorado save for occurrences in the two southeastern counties of Wyoming contingent with Colorado. In Colorado it is found mainly in the Front Range, and is not present in the San Juan River drainage or farther down the Rio Grande drainage.
