- Comments
- In Colorado, Canadian milkvetch is mainly a Front Range milkvetch, but there is one early record from the Watershed, “north of Antonito” on the Conejos River (Marshall, 1898), followed by five more recent collections (1992-2021), three in the north Cristos, and two in the San Juans (Rock Creek, Rio Grande Co). The latest (2021) was photographed by Katherine Zybko in meadow SSW of Creston, on the north boundary of the Great Sand Dunes NPP (iNaturalist observation 89831931). In the USA, this species of Astragalus is one of the most wide spread, with records from all states except Arizona, Florida, and Maine. It follows the Rio Grande drainage, however, only into the northern third of New Mexico. Note that the form in the Watershed is var. canadensis, with glabrous pods.
