- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Pyrola picta is the rarest wintergreen in the Watershed. There is only one collection: Conejos Co, 2.5 mi NW of Black Mt, 2 mi SSE of Ruybalid Lake, ± 9,000’ elevation (1988). In the North Cristos, it has been found only on the east slopes (Hogan and Elliot (2022). It is somewhat more common in the other western USA states, including New Mexico, where it is recorded from the Rio Grande drainage of Rio Arriba, Santa Fe, and Socorro counties—not farther down river.
