- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Pipsissewa has only two records from the Watershed: Mineral Co, Wolf Creek Pass overlook (2005); Conejos Co, near Bear Lake (1986). Ackerfield (2015) shows Rio Grande Co, with no vouchers in SEINet. Hogan and Elliot (2022) observe that Chimaphila umbellata has been found only on the east drainage of the North Cristos wilderness area. Famously, the USA distribution of Chimaphila umbellata is hugely disjunct, with extensive western and eastern populations and total absence in between, in the Great Plains and Texas. The plant has been recorded from the Rio Grande drainage about halfway down New Mexico, but no farther.
