Comments
There are only two recorded locations of pigmyweed from the Watershed, separated by 145 years. T. S. Brandegee collected this tiny aquatic from “rocks near the Rio Grande above Del Norte” in 1875 (written on the packet in the Harvard University Gray Herbarium but covered by the envelop flap). The 2020 and 2022 photorecords and herbarium vouchers, of both aquatic and stranded forms, are from a gravel pit a little NE of Del Norte. One voucher is in the Fort Lewis Herbarium (Catalogue # FLD0016275). The records would add Rio Grande to counties indicated in Ackerfield (2022) and BONAP (2022). The USA distribution is made up of scattered locations in all states W of the Great Plain, rare occurences along the New England coast, and the drainage of various streams flowing into the Gulf of Mexico in Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama. Although there are a few locations in west New Mexico (Cibola, Catron, and Grant counties), Crassula aquatica doesn't seem to follow the Rio Grande drainage below Rio Grande Co, Colorado.
