- False Solomon's seal is a mid-elevation plant that likes shady and moist conditions. In the Watershed collections have been largely from the south San Juans, but there is one location in the south Sawatch Range and a few others in the north Cristos. The plant has been recorded from the Rio Grande Cristos of NE New Mexico, and from the Rio Grande drainage of Texas as far as Big Bend. The USA distribution is perfectly disjunct, with subspecies amplexicaule occupying the Western states and subspecies racemosum the Eastern states, with only a scattering of the second in the eastern Great Plains.
