- The Watrshed has only three records of this late-summer dayflower, with locations close to one another southwest of La Garita in Saguache Co: the Natural Arch (16 Aug 1989); Old Woman’s Creek (4 Sept 1940); and west of Penitente Canyon (7 Aug 2022, iNaturalist observation #129886602). Commelina dianthifolia is primarily a dryland Arizona and New Mexico plant, with the scattered records in Colorado marking its northernmost border. It is present in nearly all counties of New Mexico, including those along the Colorado border. It follows the Rio Grande drainage to the Big Bend country of Texas. Note that the spathe with a long attenuated tip place these Watershed specimens within var. longispatha
