- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Rocky Mountain starwort, Stellaria obtusa, has one Watershed collection, 3/4 mi N of Lobo Overlook near Wolf Creek Pass (Mineral Co, Heil coll, 2003). This would mark the most southern point of the flowers distribution, which according to Ackerfield is widely scattered on up the Colorado Rockies to the extreme NW corner of the state. Heil et al. (2013) state that S. obtusa has been recorded from the neighboring San Juan drainage of Colorado. These locations would stand as the farthest southeast point, rather isolated, of the USA distribution. The crawly habitus of S. obtusa, broad leaves, and absence of petals and bracts make the species hard to confuse with other Watershed starworts. The Mineral Co occurrence would be unique for the Rio Grande drainage.
