- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. The Watershed records only five collections of Stellaria calycantha, from four locations, all in the south San Juans: Continental Divide trail above Trout Creek in Hinsdale Co (2001); near Elwood Pass (2005); Grayback Mountain (1978); and Hogback Mesa, 14 air miles SW of Del Norte (2003. As these records support, the flower typically grows at subalpine levels in moist conditions—also the habitat of occurrences in the Rio Arriba and Taos counties of New Mexico, on the Colorado border. This Stellaria is present in all Western states. Sandoval Co, New Mexico, is the southernmost observation in the Rio Grande drainage.
