- Menzies catchfly, a distinctive Silene, is a montane and upper montane flower of damp forest understory, forest openings, and mesic slopes. Aptly called mesophytic, the flower's range in the Watershed is restricted to the south San Juans up to the border of the La Garitas around Creede. The New Mexico occurrences also are restricted to the west side of the Rio Grande drainage (Rio Arriba, Sandoval, and Bernallilo counties), locations that mark the farthest down stream in the Rio Grande drainage). These locations are at the very SE corner of the USA distribution.
